Projects: Alternative Education Foundation

Alternative Education Foundation (AEF) conducts research projects whose findings assist in generating education and support groups for social skill development, academic advancement, and sensory integration for children / adolescents who have been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, and Non Verbal Learning Disorders.

AEF is a leading non-profit organization creating lasting changes in the lives of children in the United States and around the world. Many of these children have been diagnosed with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Asperger's, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Non Verbal Learning Disorder, etc.

AEF contracted Innoventions to develop the first phase of its overall vision, which included integrating its contact relationship management (CRM) with its admissions process to enable the following objectives:

a. Manage prospects throughout the admissions process (including setting up interviews, etc.) to determine the fit for both parents and students in terms of the AEF program.

b. Manage the financial relationship, including assistance/grants, etc., between parents and AEF.

c. Use information tracked during the admissions process to allocate students with appropriate teachers and begin defining and tracking treatment plan objectives.

d. Affiliate students with a comprehensive pharmacological management system that enables AEF to correlate student performance, behavior, socialization and nutrition with pharmaceutical intervention.

AEF and Innoventions are continuing the development of a technology solution, which we have essentially broken down into three core components:

I. Social media strategy (this includes defining the target audiences, determining specifics around the relevant social media elements and establishing specific rules and procedures around users, permissions, roles, best practices, terms of use, privacy, con-tent moderation, strategy, etc.)

II. Technological platform to implement said strategy with related customizations

III. User Experience Design & Development (user interface, visual design, etc., which also relate to strategy) AEF’s methodologies are designed to be collaborative, where social behaviors both at school and at home are equally important, and teachers, therapists, doctors and parents play a role in ensuring the success of the student.

AEF aims to create a community in order to achieve greater levels of family engagement and commitment, and to expand and enhance the program through the use of social media.
